Openwork is hiring an experienced Bilingual Warehouse Associate for an established steel distribution company in Houston, TX 77041.

This hands-on position focuses on pulling customer orders, loading and unloading materials, operating forklifts and overhead cranes, and supporting daily warehouse operations.

Qualified candidates must have at least 2 years of warehouse, material handling, or related industrial experience. Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, or similar equipment is preferred. Steel industry experience is a plus but not required.

Position Details:

Location: Houston, TX 77041
Pay: $17.00/hr | Weekly Pay
Schedule: Mon–Fri, 7:00 AM or 8:00 AM start, assigned by supervisor | 8-hour shifts
Shift: 1st Shift
Employment: Full-Time
Overtime: Required as needed, including short or last-minute notice

Key Responsibilities:

Pull and prepare customer orders using pick tickets.
Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move materials.
Load, unload, and organize warehouse materials.
Verify material sizes, quantities, grades, and heat numbers.
Handle structural steel, pipes, and steel plates.
Assist with cutting materials using saws and other equipment.
Measure materials using tape measures and micrometers.
Verify order accuracy and complete required paperwork.
Maintain clean and organized warehouse areas.
Follow equipment safety and workplace procedures.

Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years of warehouse, material handling, or related industrial experience required.
Forklift, overhead crane, or similar equipment experience preferred.
Bilingual communication skills required.
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
Steel warehouse or manufacturing experience preferred, but not required.
Experience loading, unloading, and moving heavy materials.
Ability to read pick tickets and use basic measuring tools.
Basic math skills and strong attention to detail.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Dependable attendance and strong teamwork skills.
Comfortable working in an industrial warehouse environment.
Must be available for short-notice or last-minute overtime.
Ability to meet pre-employment background and drug/alcohol screening requirements.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Industrial warehouse and steel distribution environment.
Forklift, overhead crane, and material handling operations.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting.
Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
Use of measuring tools and industrial equipment.
Required PPE and workplace safety procedures.
Extended hours based on operational needs.
