JOB SUMMARY: 
Perform logistics functions that may include reviewing, preparing and routing shipments, coordinating drivers, work crews, vehicles or equipment to appropriate locations according to schedules or customer requests.

QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and logistics software. 
  • Excellent clerical and organizational skills to keep track of schedules, routes and personnel.
  • Knowledge of computers for scheduling and other dispatching duties.
  • Ability to multitask with different events happening at the same time. 
  • Ability to work under stress and remain calm. 
  • Ability to relay information in a fast-paced environment. 
  • 2 – 5 years’ experience working with LTL Freight carriers. 
  • Familiarity operating a forklift, a plus. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Responsible for calculating routes and times of deliveries and making the necessary adjustments for sales and customers. 
  • Establish delivery routes which are cost effective and compliant with Federal DOT guidelines while still maintaining an acceptable level of customer service, quality and satisfaction.
  • Ensuring the safe and timely pick-up and delivery of shipments.
  • Scheduling and dispatching drivers, work crews, vehicles or equipment to appropriate locations according to schedules.
  • Relaying information such as work orders or other messages to and from work crews or supervisors.
  • Using telephones, two-way radios or outlook email to contact employees. 
  • Speaking with supervisors or customers to resolve problems, requests for services or equipment. 
  • Preparing daily work such as schedules. 
  • Preparing work orders for crew or receiving work orders from work crews. 
  • Being in charge of communications within company assigned territories. 
  • Keeping and organizing work requests, customer requests, completed work requests, charges for work performed, expenses for services performed, inventory records and other information. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Position works primarily in a warehouse environment. 
  • Constant telephone activity; must have a high comfort level of initiating conversation. 
  • Moderate noise levels. 
  • Occupation requires being sedentary greater than or equal to 80% of the time. 
  • Work involves sitting, standing, hearing, talking, handling, reaching outward, reaching above shoulder, walking, squatting or kneeling, bending. 
  • Regularly required to work on multiple concurrent tasks with constant interruptions.
