Polling Location Accessibility & Field Surveys
Openwork is hiring dependable and detail-oriented Election Day Surveyors to assist with accessibility surveys at polling locations throughout Harris County, TX.
This temporary position focuses on inspecting polling locations, documenting accessibility concerns, taking photographs, and supporting ADA compliance efforts.
Qualified candidates must have a valid Texas driver's license, reliable personal transportation, basic iPad skills, and strong attention to detail. Candidates must also be comfortable traveling between polling locations and working outdoors.
Position Details:
- Location: Houston, TX 77032 | Various Harris County locations.
- Pay: $17/hr | Weekly Pay
- Training: Monday, November 2, 2026
- Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 2026
- Schedule: 6:30 AM until assigned surveys are completed.
- Employment: Temporary Assignment.
- Transportation: Personal vehicle required.
- Mileage: Reimbursement provided for eligible travel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct accessibility surveys at Harris County polling locations.
- Use an assigned iPad and measuring tools to complete surveys.
- Inspect polling locations for accessibility concerns.
- Take photographs and document identified issues.
- Record accurate measurements and survey findings.
- Assist election judges with accessibility corrections.
- Work with a partner to complete assigned surveys.
- Travel between polling locations throughout Harris County.
- Assist the ADA team as needed.
- Follow survey procedures and workplace safety guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Valid Texas driver's license required.
- Reliable personal transportation required.
- Basic iPad and measuring tool experience.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with a partner and follow instructions.
- Comfortable taking photographs and recording measurements.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to bend, kneel, and reach when taking measurements.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Availability for required training and Election Day assignment.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Field-based work at multiple Harris County polling locations.
- Frequent travel between assigned locations.
- Extended standing, walking, bending, and outdoor activity.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 35 lbs.
- Regular use of an iPad and measuring tools.
- Business casual dress code.
- Valid photo ID required.
- Follow all workplace safety and survey procedures.
