Firearms Retail & Customer Service
Openwork is hiring a professional, customer-focused Gun Counter Retail Clerk for a public-safety retail company in Southeast Houston, TX. This position assists law enforcement officers, first responders, security professionals, and civilian customers with firearms, ammunition, accessories, and other public-safety products.
Qualified candidates must have at least 1 year of retail sales or customer-service experience, knowledge of basic firearm safety, and the ability to handle transactions and documentation accurately. Professionalism, attention to detail, and compliance with applicable firearm regulations are essential.
Position at a Glance:
Location: Southeast Houston, TX
Pay: $17.00 per hour | Weekly Pay
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, with one weekday off
Saturday: 9:00 AM–2:00 PM
Sunday: Off

What You'll Be Doing:
- Greet customers and provide professional service at the firearm counter.
- Assist customers with firearms, ammunition, optics, accessories, and related products.
- Explain product features, pricing, availability, and store policies.
- Maintain current knowledge of firearm inventory and related merchandise.
- Follow established firearm safety procedures when handling and presenting products.
- Verify identification and assist with required firearm transaction and transfer documentation.
- Review forms for accuracy and completeness in accordance with company procedures.
- Follow applicable federal, state, and local firearm regulations, including ATF requirements.
- Process purchases accurately using the point-of-sale system.
- Follow up on customer requests, special orders, and incoming transfers.
- Receive, price, stock, and organize merchandise.
- Maintain accurate inventory and transaction records.
- Keep firearms secured and the counter clean, organized, and properly stocked.
- Assist with additional retail duties as needed.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Minimum 1 year of retail sales or customer-service experience — REQUIRED.
- Firearm, ammunition, optics, or tactical-equipment knowledge strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of basic firearm safety and responsible handling practices.
- Ability to follow firearm sales, transfer, and compliance procedures accurately.
- Strong attention to detail when reviewing identification and completing documentation.
- Professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Patience and professionalism when assisting customers.
- Basic computer and point-of-sale experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to stay organized and manage multiple customer requests.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a retail team.
- Must meet applicable background, eligibility, and compliance requirements associated with handling and selling firearms.

- Customer-facing retail environment.

- Bending, reaching, stocking shelves, and organizing displays.
