Openwork is currently engaged in a search to find a skilled Assembly/Installation Technician in Acworth, GA. In this hands-on and dynamic role, you will be responsible for assembling and installing advanced packaging machinery, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems, and supporting customer installations. In an Assembly/Installation Technician job, you’ll be responsible for:
- Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics to assemble and install packaging machinery using hand and powered tools.
- Install and rig packaging machinery at customer sites, including unloading and securing equipment.
- Set up pneumatic and hydraulic lines and perform basic fabrication, drilling, grinding, tapping, reaming, and welding.
- Assemble and install machine components including gears, shafts, motors, and bearings.
- Route and organize electrical wiring, tubing, and components within machinery and electrical cabinets.
- Operate forklifts, lulls, and other material handling equipment to safely move equipment and components.
- Perform electrical functional and continuity testing using tools such as ohmmeters and test lights.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues to minimize downtime.
- Use ERP software, Microsoft Word, and Excel for documentation, reporting, labor tracking, and resource planning.
- Participate in customer testing, research and development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you’ll need:
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience assembling, installing, or servicing end-of-line packaging and automation equipment.
- Experience diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues.
- Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Experience with electromechanical systems, including wiring, crimping, and functional and continuity testing.
- Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including setup and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience operating material handling equipment such as forklifts and lulls.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a drug test and background check.
- Willingness to travel approximately 20%–70%.
- Experience with VFD configuration/programming and Siemens or Allen-Bradley PLCs is a bonus.

The Assembly/Installation Technician position involves light to moderate lifting and climbing on machinery for troubleshooting and inspection. Technicians may work in a variety of plant environments and may be required to work weekends, overtime, or on-call schedules.
