Openwork is hiring an experienced Packaging Specialist for a leading metals manufacturing facility in Northeast Houston. If you have experience in packaging, material handling, and forklift operation and are looking for a long-term opportunity with room to grow, this could be the right fit for you.
We're looking for dependable individuals who take pride in producing quality work, maintaining a safe workplace, and contributing to a successful production team.
What You'll Do:
- Package finished products according to customer and shipping specifications.
- Verify dimensions, counts, labels, and product quality before shipment.
- Read and follow work orders, packing instructions, and shipping documents.
- Build pallets, crate, band, shrink-wrap, and prepare products for shipment.
- Operate a forklift to move and stage materials.
- Inspect products for defects and report any quality concerns.
- Clean products and maintain an organized work area.
- Follow all safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
What We're Looking For:
- 2+ years of manufacturing, packaging, warehouse, or material handling experience required.
- Forklift experience required (forklift assessment conducted during the interview).
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
- Basic math skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift 50–75 pounds and remain active throughout a 10-hour shift.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Overhead crane experience is a plus.
- Reliable attendance and strong commitment to workplace safety.
Safety & Work Environment:
- Work with lead-based materials in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Required use of PPE, including a half-mask respirator.
- Must be clean-shaven each workday for proper respirator fit.
- Daily showering after each shift and periodic blood testing are required.
- Fast-paced, team-oriented workplace focused on safety and quality.
