Lead from the Floor. Keep Production Moving.
Openwork is hiring an experienced Production Floor Supervisor for a fast-paced manufacturing operation in Northeast Houston. We're looking for a working supervisor who can lead approximately 8–10 employees, manage changing production priorities, maintain safety and quality standards, and keep customer orders moving on schedule.

The ideal candidate understands the urgency of a manufacturing job shop and knows how to lead by example—coaching employees, solving problems, checking quality, and stepping in to help when production demands it.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Lead daily 2nd-shift production and assign work based on priorities.
  • Supervise, coach, train, and support approximately 8–10 employees.
  • Monitor workflow and keep customer orders moving on schedule.
  • Work hands-on with the team to measure, stage, move, inspect, and process materials.
  • Assist with moving and handling heavy materials or products when needed.
  • Review work orders, drawings, customer paperwork, and job requirements.
  • Verify measurements, tolerances, specifications, and finished product quality.
  • Identify and resolve production delays, bottlenecks, material issues, and quality concerns.
  • Manage attendance, employee expectations, and performance accountability.
  • Enforce PPE requirements, safe equipment operation, housekeeping, and OSHA-safe work practices.
  • Communicate production progress and concerns to management.
  • Coordinate with other departments to support quality and on-time delivery.

What We're Looking For:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years of hands-on manufacturing, fabrication, metal shop, job shop, construction, or similar production experience.
  • Previous lead or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading employees in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to read work orders, drawings, measurements, and job specifications.
  • Strong measuring skills using tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Ability to convert decimals to fractions.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing safety, quality, and production practices.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and production deadlines.
  • Strong communication, organization, follow-up, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to hold employees accountable while maintaining a fair, respectful, and team-focused environment.
  • Trade school, technical certifications, or additional manufacturing training are a plus.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
  • Fast-paced industrial manufacturing/job shop environment.
  • Hands-on work throughout the production floor.
  • Must be comfortable occasionally lifting, moving, staging, or handling heavy materials.
  • Must be able to remain active and on the production floor throughout the shift.
  • Required PPE and respirator use.
  • Regular interaction with production equipment, materials, and measuring tools.
  • Strong focus on safety, quality, housekeeping, productivity, and customer deadlines.

Benefits Upon Permanent Hire:
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Life insurance.
  • Short-Term and Long-Term Disability coverage.
  • Production and safety bonus opportunities.
  • Annual $200 Red Wing boot allowance after one year.
